How to perform well at an interview and get your dream KBB job?

Take with you a portfolio of further information that will illustrate why you should get the job, this could be a special previous project you`ve completed, written testimonials, at least x 3 references or, if you`re in kbb sales, a generic sales chart that validates your performance.

Always travel to the venue a little earlier and find ourt where the meeting will take place and where you will be able to park. Then, find a nearby place to get a coffee and prepare your thoughts. Ask yourself how you can add value and write these down and relay these points during the interview.

In most cases, it’s appropriate and polite to be 5 minutes early but certainly not earlier, when you consider your interviewer will most probably have other meetings they could possibly be already in or need their own time to prepare.

Show your personality early. Have with you an appropriate ice breaker that’s not contentious , inappropriate or political and always a `truism` that can’t be disputed.

Do your research and make sure you`ve established who the owners are and even better, what turnover or profit the company returned in their previous trading year. Take into the meeting a list of questions you have for the interviewer that shows you have researched and are genuinely interested in finding out more detailed information about the company.

If you`ve been asked to do a presentation, avoid `death by powerpoint` and in place, use plenty of attention grabbing pictures and talk around bullet points only – don’t read reams of text.

Answer questions with metrics or eye openers that are attention grabbers and avoid non descript answers such as “I`ve sold loads of kitchens last year to, “last year, I sold 52 kitchens with an average order value of £20,000”

Don’t be afraid to ask about wellness benefits because this shows you have empathy for the workplace and are more likely to consider others around you.

Keep control and if you`re not asked, offer to summarise the positives that have been accepted during the interview.

At the end of the interview, directly ask for some kind of feedback and the next stage and if it is a sales position, you could ask, is there any reason why you wouldn’t be offering me this job today?
